A rural Kingsville man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly shooting his brother to death last weekend.
According to a post on the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department’s Facebook page, just before 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 600 block of NW 1801 in Kingsville in regards to a shooting incident that occurred between two brothers. Dispatch advised the reporting party stated one subject was shot and then the call was disconnected.
Upon arrival, a deputy reportedly made contact with multiple subjects inside the residence and observed a 57-year-old man lying unresponsive on the living-room floor, with apparent gunshot wounds.
During the investigation, 54-year-old Victor Dane Sanders was arrested and placed on a 24-hour investigative hold.
According to online court documents, Sanders has been charged with a Class B Felony for Voluntary Manslaughter; two counts of a Class D Felony for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm; another Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance; and an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action. Bond has been set at $500,000 cash only.
Sanders was arraigned on Wednesday, March 6. A case review is scheduled on April 10. And Sanders’ preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 1 at Johnson County Circuit Court.
