The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) and the Conservation Federation of Missouri (CFM) want to thank the hunters who donated almost 260,000 pounds of venison to Share the Harvest program this past deer season.
According to a news release, the donated deer meat will help feed hungry Missourians all around the state, and this season’s total included nearly 4,900 whole deer. Missouri hunters donated just under 290,000 pounds of venison last year. MDC also wants to thank the more than 100 participating meat processors throughout the state who prepare the donated deer meat.
Since the program was started in 1992, Share the Harvest has provided nearly 4 million pounds of venison to Missourians.
