An Otterville resident suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle traffic crash in Pettis County on Wednesday.
A report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred as a westbound school bus, driven by 37-year-old Erin Gilbert, of Smithton, started from a stop in the median crossover and reportedly pulled into the path of a southbound vehicle, driven by 20-year-old Faith Eigsti. Eigsti’s vehicle reportedly struck the bus in the right side and then ran off the right side of the roadway and came to rest blocking Route D. The bus reportedly traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a stop sign and came to rest off the west side of Route D.
While Gilbert reportedly was not injured, Eigsti was transported by Pettis County ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment.
The crash happened at 4:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 65 at Route D.
