The Pettis County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a suspicious vehicle late on Sunday, March 17, which they believe was possibly driven by Travis Lee Davis, the suspect who has been on the run the past couple of days.
According to a news release, Pettis County Deputies were notified of a suspicious pickup on a property west of Clifton City in Pettis County. A separate report was made later as the truck was abandoned on McFarland Road.
Deputies located the vehicle and determined it was stolen from Heavener, Oklahoma on March 15. This was the last reported sighting of Travis Lee Davis, who escaped from the Pettis County Jail on March 10. A ground and air search of the area failed to locate the driver of the vehicle. Other law enforcement agencies assissting in the search including sheriff’s offices in Cooper, Morgan, Moniteau and Benton counties, as well as troopers with the state highway patrol and the U.S. Marshal Service, which was brought in last week to help with the investigation.
Davis is considered to be armed and dangerous and should not be approached. Davis is possibly armed with a 12-gauge shotgun stolen from the porch of a residence in the area, and was last seen wearing a dark tan/copper Carhart coat, blue jeans, and cowboy boots.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Davis is urged to contact your local law-enforcement agency or the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office at (660) 827-0052.
