Missouri Valley College with help from local emergency responders will conduct an active shooter emergency response training exercise on its campus on Tuesday, March 26.
According to a news release, during the exercise from approximately 1:30 until 4 p.m., the campus alert system sirens will sound followed by instructions for all those on the MVC campus. Also, text messages alerts will be sent out to those who have signed up to receive them. Anyone on campus will be asked to follow instructions sent by email or text alerts, as well as listening to the campus alert system. At the end of the exercise, the following will be announced– “Attention! All warnings for the Missouri Valley College campus have now expired”– followed by Westminster Chimes.
In addition to Missouri Valley College and the Marshall Police Department, the Saline County Sheriff’s Department, Saline County Health Department, Marshall Fire Department, Saline County Ambulance, and Fitzgibbon Hospital will take part in this exercise. This exercise is designed to help prepare for situations that could occur on the MVC campus. Students, faculty, staff and visitors to campus are reminded to follow all instructions given by emergency responders and MVC administrators as though this were a real-life emergency.
In the event an actual emergency occurs during the drill, all alert systems will notify the campus.
