A Columbia resident has been charged with a felony for allegedly leading law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit through Lafayette and Saline Counties on Sunday, March 24.
A probable-cause statement says a vehicle sped away from an attempted traffic stop on U.S. Highway 24 east of Waverly. The vehicle reportedly traveled at speeds up to 110 miles per hour during the chase which went through Waverly; onto southbound U.S. Highway 65; onto Route BB; westbound on Missouri Highway 20 through Blackburn; and onto southbound Missouri Highway 23. The vehicle eventually stopped after “stop sticks” were deployed- blowing out all four tires- near Route AA in Lafayette County. Arrested was the driver- 48-year-old Randy Boyd.
Online court documents say Boyd has been charged with a Class E Felony for Resisting Arrest, Detention or Stop by Fleeing. Bond has been set at $25,000 cash only.
Boyd’s initial hearing is pending at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
