There will be an emergency-response drill on an area college campus on Tuesday, March 26.
A news release says this exercise is intended to help prepare the community and local emergency responders for situations that could occur on the Missouri Valley College campus in Marshall.
MVC, the Marshall Police Department and local emergency responders will conduct an active-shooter emergency-response lock-down training exercise on the campus from approximately 1:30 to 4 p.m.
During the training exercise, the campus alert-system sirens will sound, followed by instructions for all those on the MVC campus. Text-alert messages will be sent out to those who have signed up to receive them. Anyone on campus is asked to follow the instructions of the email and text alerts, and to listen to the campus-alert system. Students, faculty, staff and visitors to campus are reminded to follow all instructions given by emergency responders and MVC administrators as though this were a real-life emergency.
At the end of the exercise, “Attention! All warnings for the Missouri Valley College campus have now expired,” will be announced- followed by Westminster Chimes.
In addition to personnel from Missouri Valley College and the Marshall Police Department, Saline County Sheriff’s Department, Saline County Health Department, Marshall Fire Department, Saline County Ambulance District and Fitzgibbon Hospital personnel will take part in this exercise.
In the event that an actual emergency occurs during the drill, all alert systems will notify the campus.
Anyone who would like to register to receive MVC campus emergency alerts via text message may do so at www.getrave.com/login/moval.
