Students and staff at an area high school in Ray County had to evacuate its school building due to a fire on Wednesday, March 27.
According to a post on the Orrick R-11 School District’s Facebook Page, the evacuation occurred sometime in the morning hours as smoke was noticed to be coming from the roof. All students and staff were accounted for and gathered at the football field. Students were then sent to Orrick Christian Church, where parents are advised to pick up their children at this time.
Also, administration personnel have decided to cancel all athletics and school activities for the rest of this week.
Emergency responders are on the scene, and no other information is available at this time.
KMMO News will update the situation once more information becomes available.
