Students and staff at Orrick High School had to evacuate the building due to a fire on Wednesday, March 27.
According to a post on the district’s Facebook page, the evacuation occurred when smoke was noticed coming from the roof.
All students and staff were accounted for and gathered at the football field.
A later post says the administration has decided to cancel all athletic and school activities- including band, softball and track- for the rest of this week.
An updated post also says “as of now, school will be canceled for the rest of the week due to the fire damage.”
The district will keep residents posted on when students can return.
KMMO News will update this story when more information becomes available.
