Saline County Career Center DECA students reaped the rewards of their yearlong class projects during a trip to the state competition.
According to a news release, at the Missouri DECA State Career Development Conference March 24-26, one team qualified to present its project at the next level, DECA’s International Career Development Conference (ICDC), April 26-May 1, in Orlando.
At the state conference, several students presented projects that were evaluated by a judging panel consisting of more than 100 business and industry professionals.
Romario Monroy and Trinity Stewart will represent the chapter at ICDC with their creative-marketing project “Operation Stand Up,” which earned second place at state.
Placing in the top eight were Madison Baker and ReBekka Cox with their creative-marketing project, “P.E.A.C.E.”; Lauren McComas and MacKenzi Mills with their creative-marketing project, “Seconds Matter”; and Rhiannon Bowlen and Iline Alvarez with their community-service project, “November Rain.”
The SCCC chapter also was recognized this year for obtaining “Thrive” status for its efforts in community service, promotion and global entrepreneurship campaigns. It was the only Missouri chapter to achieve the recognition this year.
