During the meeting of the Saline County Commission on Tuesday, April 2, Northern District Commissioner Stephanie Gooden gave an update on the commission’s efforts to bring broadband internet service to the rural areas of the county.
Gooden said a conference call was held with internet service provider Bluebird on Monday, April 1.
Gooden said Bluebird is looking for a partnership, so the commission had Marshall Municipal Utilities take part in the conference call. She said since MMU already provides service to Marshall, the commission feels it will be a perfect match for MMU to take it out into the county- start with a radius outside of Marshall and keep going until all of the area in the county is covered.
In other news, commissioners approved the destruction of an old computer. Clerk Debbie Russell pointed out the hard drive will be removed prior to it taken to a facility for disposal.
