The Marshall School Board gave its approval regarding a couple of items for the Saline County Career Center during its meeting on Tuesday, April 16.
The board gave the green light to a “Grow Your Own Teachers” program. SCCC Director Callie Dobbins said there is a lot of interest from area students as a result of a survey conducted in the Marshall, Malta Bend, Slater and Sweet Springs districts.
Later, the board also gave its support for Dobbins to seek an enhancement grant for the 2019-20 school year.
Dobbins said the items have to actually enhance the curriculum of the program. She listed several programs- including adult nursing and the marketing and agriculture departments.
The items listed total $97,020. As Dobbins said, if approved for the grant, the district will only have to pay 25 to 50 percent of the cost for any of the individual items, depending each item’s classification.
