Several area students have been awarded scholarships for projects presented involving agriculture.
A news release says Missouri State Fair Director Mark Wolfe has announced that 42 youths- selected from Missouri 4-H and FFA State Fair exhibitors- will be awarded scholarships by the Missouri State Fair Youth in Agriculture (YIA) committee for higher education at a Missouri university/college.
Area youth chosen to receive $1,500 scholarships, sponsored by YIA supporters, are: Hannah Anderson, of Ionia; Alexis Borgstadt, of Concordia; Trace Chambers, of Fayette; Dustin Davies, of Dawn; Megan Edwards, of Salisbury; Kathryn Grant, of Carrollton; Koy Harris, of New Franklin; Nicholas Rhodes, of Brookfield; and Taylor Scott, of Lexington.
They will be recognized during the annual State FFA Convention in Columbia on Friday, April 26.
The scholarships are funded through the generosity of Youth in Agriculture sponsors and buyers of the livestock sold during the annual Sale of Champions. This year’s auction will be held Saturday, August 17.
