Voters in the Brunswick R-2 School District passed a bond issue for $1.7 million during the Municipal Election for some construction projects.
Superintendent Bob Kottman said that money is to be used to renovate the parking areas- to create a drop-off, roundabout type of area at the elementary school; to move the elementary office to the west end of the building; an addition to the kitchen to put the district’s freezer and cooler under a permanent roof; fixing the high school roof; parking lot paving and repairs; and an upgrade to storage space in the elementary school.
After talking to the engineers and architects, Kottman said they have decided to delay the paving from this summer until after the necessary construction.
Kottman said the plan includes construction to start on the two additions in the fall and hopefully be finished by next spring; then to begin the paving and get it finished before the start of the 2020-21 school year.
