Two out-of-state residents suffered minor injuries in a three-vehicle traffic crash in Lafayette County Thursday.
A report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred as an eastbound vehicle, driven by 19-year-old Jose Avalos, of Norfolk, Nebraska, reportedly overtook and struck the rear of another eastbound vehicle, driven by 66-year-old Cheng Lao, of Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Lao’s vehicle then was forced into another eastbound vehicle, driven by 34-year-old D’Ana Eskridge, of Kansas City.
While Avalos and Eskridge reportedly were not injured, Lao and a passenger in his vehicle- 72-year-old Kia Vang, of Henderson, Colorado- were transported by ambulance to Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence for treatment.
The crash happened at 6:35 p.m. at the 44.6 mile marker on I-70.
