A 26-year-old Columbia man has been charged with a drug-related felony for allegedly being in possession of several drug-related items in a basement in Boonville.
According to a probable-cause statement, authorities were called to residence on Locust Street in reference to a subject holding a family hostage at gunpoint on April 15.
The resident reportedly gave consent to search the basement; and authorities say they found items in plain view- including a quantity of green plant material in bags on a workbench; items commonly associated with cultivation and growing of marijuana; as well as several vacuum-sealed bags of green plant material; lights; power inverters; and scales. Along with other drug-related items, authorities say they found a notebook with various names and what appears to be weights and price amounts. The green plant material reportedly weighed 19.136 pounds.
Online court documents say David Avery Sobelman has been charged with a Class C Felony for Delivery of a Controlled Substance. He posted surety bond on April 16.
Sobelman’s initial hearing is pending at Cooper County Circuit Court.
