A Marshall man has been charged with multiple felonies for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting a woman on April 18.
According to a report from a Marshall Police officer, the woman alleges that William Hostetter grabbed her by the throat and forced her to drive to his home in the 500 block of West Vest Street. Upon their arrival, the woman said Hostetter punched her in the face with a closed fist; beat her with a toilet plunger until it broke; knocked her to the floor and kicked her while she was lying down; and pressed the broken handle of the plunger to her throat. The officer reportedly noticed swelling around the woman’s left eye and some bruising on her upper back as well as her left elbow. The woman also reportedly told the officer she was advised her nose was broken and she had suffered a possible hairline fracture of her left arm.
Online court documents say Hostetter has been charged with Class D Felonies for Domestic Assault and Kidnapping in the Second Degree; as well as a Class E Felony for Domestic Assault in the Third Degree. Cash-only bond has been set at $20,000.
Hostetter’s arraignment hearing is scheduled to be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, at Saline County Circuit Court.
