The Higginsville FFA Chapter placed second in the soils evaluation career development event at the 91st Missouri FFA Convention. There were 48 teams in the competition.
According to a news release, team members included Noah Iles, Cole Oelrichs, Jacob Herrera and Dawson Kouril. Individually, Iles placed third, Oelrichs placed seventh, Herrera placed 18th and Kouril placed 29th out of 183 participants. The Higginsville FFA advisors are Taylor Howell, Adam Brock and Stephanie Carpenter.
The soils teams evaluate and analyze soil for characteristics critical to production capabilities.
In other results, the Sweet Springs FFA Chapter placed fourth in the parliamentary procedure leadership development event.
Team members are Cole Murphy, Ethan Sims, Grant Knipmeyer, Kynleigh Fuehring, Kyla Giffen and Mackenzie Sims. The Sweet Springs FFA advisors are Kristen Fenner and Brent Niemeyer.
The event consists of both a written test and a demonstration that tests the team’s knowledge of parliamentary law based on Robert’s Rules of Order.
And, the Boonville FFA Chapter placed fifth in the FFA agricultural issues forum leadership development event.
Boonville team members include Aly Blank, Macey Nowlin, Rebecca Evans, Marina Friman and Mikayla Gramlich. Boonville advisors are Doug Henke and Deanna Thies.
Teams in the agricultural issues forum LDE create a presentation focused on an important agricultural issue faced by their community. Team members give their presentation at least five times to community organizations before competing in the event.
This contest is one of many ways the FFA prepares student members for career success. LDEs engage student learning and make a real connection to lifetime goals.
