A rural Kingsville man who is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly shooting his brother to death on March 3 has a court proceeding scheduled for this week.
According to a post on the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department’s Facebook page, deputies were dispatched to a residence in Kingsville in regards to a shooting incident that occurred between two brothers. Upon arrival, a deputy reportedly observed a 57-year-old man lying unresponsive on the living-room floor with apparent gunshot wounds. During the investigation, 54-year-old Victor Dane Sanders was arrested.
According to online court documents, Sanders has been charged with a Class B Felony for Voluntary Manslaughter; two counts of a Class D Felony for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm; another Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance; and an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action. Bond originally was set at $500,000 cash only; however, during a case review on April 10, his bond was reduced to $200,000 cash or surety. Surety bond was posted on April 16.
Sanders’ preliminary hearing is scheduled for at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, at Johnson County Circuit Court.
