Two Marshall residents have been charged with felonies for attempting to cash an allegedly fraudulent check in Marshall on Thursday, April 25.
According to a probable-cause statement, an employee at Bank 21 contacted Marshall Police and said a subject who had cashed a fraudulent check in Sedalia on April 24 was in the bank attempting to cash another fraudulent check. The check was from Lock Warehouse Inc., of Carrollton, in the amount of $4,490.21 made out to Lawrence Oker. The owner of Lock Warehouse told authorities he did not make out the check to Oker. After the two were arrested and arrived at the police department, authorities reportedly discovered that Asher had another check on his person from Lock Warehouse made out to Asher in the amount of $4,766.17.
According to online court documents, each subject has been charged with a Class D Felony for Forgery and a Class E Felony for Attempt to Steal $750 or More. Bond for each has been set at $10,000 cash, surety or 10-percent approved.
Each defendant was arraigned on Friday, April 26; and each has a counsel-status hearing scheduled to be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, at Saline County Circuit Court.
