A Lincoln man accused of murdering a Sedalia woman last year was found guilty after conclusion of a jury trial held earlier this week in Pettis County.
According to the Sedalia Police Department, on January 21, 2018, Justin K. Lewis turned himself into authorities and was taken into custody without incident. He was accused of stabbing to death 33-year-old Heather McClellan earlier that month in Pettis County.
Online court documents say Lewis was charged with a Class A Felony for Second-Degree Murder; a Class E Felony for Unlawful Use of a Weapon; and an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action.
Lewis, who is now 30 years old, entered a plea of not guilty on February 20, 2018.
At the conclusion of the trial on Tuesday, April 30, a Pettis County jury unanimously found Lewis guilty of all felony charges. The court then granted Lewis an additional 10 days to file any post judgment motions and ordered a sentence assessment report.
Also, the court scheduled a sentencing hearing for Lewis to be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, at Pettis County Circuit Court.
