The Saline County Career Center is celebrating its 50th anniversary by inviting the public to attend an open-house event from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 9.
According to a news release, SCCC has been a place for career, technical and adult education in Marshall since opening its doors in 1968. A variety of learning opportunities are offered at the career center for secondary, post-secondary and adult students. Additionally, high school students from Malta Bend, Slater and Sweet Springs are offered a chance to take classes at SCCC.
Currently, 400 secondary students attend classes for at least a portion of their school day, and each semester over 40 different classes are offered ranging from personal enrichment, computer technology, arts, crafts and technical skills development, such as welding.
A tour of the Career Center and Industrial Arts buildings will be available during the open house event.
