A multi-million dollar renovation project of an historic house in Saline County has earned praise and recognition.
During the meeting of the Saline County Commission on Thursday, May 2, Assessor Jessica Goodman explained in 2014 the Saline County Historical Preservation Commission nominated the Blosser House near Malta Bend as a place in peril. Goodman said a retired doctor and his wife purchased the property.
Goodman said she attended the Missouri Alliance for Historic Preservation’s awards ceremony in Jefferson City on Tuesday, April 30.
According to a news release, Dr. Arthur and Carolyn Elman ((left) received the “McReynolds Award” for their renovation of the
Blosser House, which was built in 1878. It was one of three recognized for the annual award, which is awarded to individuals or groups who have made significant achievements in the field or are in the midst of a long-term preservation project, creating synergy in the field of historic preservation.
Goodman says the renovation of the house and carriage barn is complete, “and the barn is well on its way.”

Also recognized during the ceremony with one of the nine “Preserve Missouri” awards was the Coliseum and Women’s Building on the Missouri State Fairgrounds in Sedalia.
