A Harrisonville man and a Warrensburg woman each have been charged with drug and weapon-related felonies after a traffic stop last week in Pettis County.
A probable-cause statement says a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle reportedly traveling 22 miles per hour over the speed limit on U.S. Highway 50 near Missouri Highway 127 on May 2.
The trooper spoke with the driver, Tyler Nickel; and passenger, Shelby Dines. The trooper reportedly noticed suspicious activity and had Nickel exit the vehicle, where a glass pipe with white residue allegedly fell out of his pocket. A search of the vehicle discovered 12 small baggies of a white crystal substance, one small baggie of various colored pills, a loaded handgun and about $1,300 in cash. Also, a controlled medication and various THC-infused products allegedly were found in the vehicle.
Online court documents say Nickel and Dines each have been charged with two counts of a Class C Felony for Delivery of a Controlled Substance and a Class E Felony for Unlawful Use of a Weapon- Possession of both Weapon and Controlled Substance. Also, both were charged with misdemeanors. Bond for each was set at $60,000 cash or surety.
An initial hearing for each defendant is pending at Pettis County Circuit Court.
