A 25-year-old Columbia man is facing felony charges for allegedly being one of two persons involved in a burglary of a business in Brookfield.
According to a post on the Brookfield Police Department’s Facebook page, officers responded to a business in the 500 block of South Main Street for a report of a burglary. The reporting party said sometime between 10:30 p.m. on May 4 and 8:40 a.m. on May 5, an unknown suspect(s) entered the building and stole approximately $3,080. Officers collected multiple pieces of physical evidence from the scene, and reviewed security video of the incident from the business and from other area video sources.
On May 6, a warrant was issued for Dakota Blackburn’s arrest. Authorities reportedly still are searching for one other person-of-interest in connection with the incident.
Online court documents say Blackburn has been charged with Class D Felonies for Burglary in the Second Degree and Stealing of $750 or More, with cash-only bond set at $10,000. Shortly before 4 p.m. on May 6, the Columbia Police Department reportedly arrested Blackburn.
Blackburn’s initial hearing is pending at Linn County Circuit Court.
