A Bates City man has been charged with a felony for allegedly starting a fire in his neighbor’s mobile home recently in Lafayette County.
A probable-cause statement says Lafayette County deputies responded to a report of a structure fire in the 1400 block of Outer Road near Bates City just before midnight on May 9.
Upon arrival, deputies noticed a mobile home was fully engulfed and spoke to the manager of the trailer park. The manager stated surveillance cameras were setup throughout the trailer park. Deputies viewed the recorded video and reportedly noticed 35-year-old Travis Patterson leave his trailer and entered the victim’ residence. Patterson then is seen leaving the area as flames grew from inside the residence. Reportedly, no other individual is noticed on video surveillance at the time of the fire.
Online court documents say Patterson has been charged with a Class B Felony for Arson in the First Degree. Bond has not been set yet.
Patterson’s initial hearing is pending at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
