Saline County Northern District Commissioner Stephanie Gooden gave an update on the effort to get rural broadband service to the county during the meeting of the commission on Thursday, May 9.
Gooden said the county and Marshall Municipal Utilities are applying for a USDA ReConnect grant of about $600,000. She said a project area has been drawn in the event the funds are received.

Southern District Commissioner Monte Fenner said people have asked “If I fill out this form, what’s it cost me? I just said: It doesn’t cost you anything. It just means you’re interested in having this to your home.”
The commissioners said the door-to-door effort will continue for the next couple of weeks.
