The last time residents in the city of Sweet Springs were able to use the city’s pool was at the tail end of the summer of 2016. The nearly three-year wait is almost over for the facility to serve its residents again.
City Clerk Michelle Fuehring said the pool is tentatively scheduled to reopen Memorial Day weekend.
Fuehring said aldermen approved the hiring of Lindsay Fogarty with Red Letter Management to manage the pool; and all 13 of the persons who had submitted applications to be lifeguards. Fuehring said “as long as they can get certified and have their card that they’re a lifeguard, then they’re hired.”
Fuehring said the basic need is to have two lifeguards on duty at all times.
Fuehring said the ordinary hours for the pool are going to be 12 to 7 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays; and 12 to 6 p.m. on Sundays. She said starting on July 1, the pool will open at 11 a.m. each day and close at 7 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and at 6 p.m. on Sundays through July.
