The Saline County Career Center DECA chapter recently received a four-figure donation for the second time in the past month.
A news release says on May 10, SCCC DECA received a $2,000 donation from Malta Bend Memorial American Legion Post #558. The donation is to help support and sustain the chapter’s funding this year. Last month, CFM Insurance, Inc., in Concordia, donated $2,000 to help two DECA members attend the DECA International Career Development Competition in Orlando, Florida.
Each year, DECA members work with local initiatives and charities to develop marketing, publicity and advertising plans or general community awareness programs. Some DECA members participated in a project called “November Rain,” to raise awareness and support veterans. In March, DECA members collected money at an intersection to go towards supporting veterans.
