Several requests for funds from the Transient Guest Tax were approved by the Sweet Springs Board of Aldermen during its meeting on Monday, May 13.
According to minutes from the meeting, the board approved $1,000 to Friends of Sweet Springs Revitalization for Oktoberfest; $3,000 to MU Omega- There’s No Place Like Home; $2,000 to the Sweet Springs Festival- Gusher Days Festival; $7,500 to the Sweet Springs MotorSports Complex for race promotions; $1,000 to the Sweet Springs Optimist Club for a car show; $2,500 Friends of the FFA/Sweet Springs Tractor Pull; $2,500 to the Sweet Springs Chamber of Commerce for holiday decorations; and $500 to the Mo. Preceptor Eta Delta for pagoda re-roofing.
In other news, aldermen also approved hiring Kyle Doan and Brad Fogarty with Red Letter Management to drag and mark the ball fields, respectively, for the entire summer ball season. Each contract is for $450.
The board also approved several appointments to boards: Joyce Knight to a reappointment to a three-year term on the Cemetery Board; Shelly Schlichting reappointment to a three-year term and Kerry Wike and Luann Hall to three-year terms on the Library Board; Diane Steinkuhler reappointment to a three-year term to the Planning and Zoning Board; Donna Dielschneider and Buddy Cox to reappointments and Carlton Berryman to three-year terms on the Park Board; and Robbie Weber as a reappointment to a three-year term on the Recreation Board.
