The Benton County Sheriff’s Office is currently searching for a suspect from a reported shooting incident last night which has left one person dead.
According to a news release, at approximately 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, deputies responded to a residence in Ionia to a female victim stating that 45-year-old Travis C. Henderson (left) was pointing a shotgun at her outside the residence.
Upon arrival, 47-year-old Khristy Clark was found deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. Henderson reportedly fled from the scene in a pickup truck that was later recovered in a remote area east of Ionia. It is believed that Henderson was picked up by an individual and removed from that location. Multiple law-enforcement agencies including MSHP Swat and a helicopter conducted a search of the surrounding area well into this morning (Thursday, May 16). At this time, Henderson is still at-large.
Authorities believe Henderson is not a threat to the general public, but area residents should be aware and call 9-1-1 if he is spotted. Henderson reportedly is armed and should not be approached.
