A Marshall man is in custody and has been formally charged with felonies for the reported shooting incident in Boonville on Wednesday, May 15.
According to a news release from Boonville Police Chief Bobby Welliver, officers were dispatched to the Harley Park area at 1:05 p.m., and two persons were transported from the scene to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment.
One victim was treated and released; while the other still is receiving treatment and is listed in serious to critical condition at the hospital.
At 1:20 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, Boonville PD confirmed that 30-year-old Derrick Anthony Young was arrested and has been formally charged.
Online court documents say Young has been charged with two counts of a Class A Felony for Assault in the First Degree- Causing Serious Physical Injury to Any Person; another Class A Felony for Unlawful Use of a Weapon; and an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action. Bond has been set at $500,000 cash or surety.
An initial hearing for Young is pending at Cooper County Circuit Court.
