Two Sedalia men each face multiple felonies for a recent high-speed chase incident which began within city limits and ended in rural Pettis County.
A probable-cause statement says a Pettis County deputy tried to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding near 16th Street in Sedalia at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Monday, May 20. The vehicle reportedly failed to stop and chase ensued. The deputy stated the suspect’s vehicle was traveling up to 80 miles per hour on various Sedalia roadways, which almost caused several traffic crashes. The pursuit continued northbound on U.S. Highway 65 where the suspect’s vehicle reportedly was noticed to be traveling at 120 miles per hour.
During the pursuit on U.S. 65, the suspect’s vehicle traveled into the path of oncoming traffic and caused another vehicle to travel off the roadway to avoid a collision. The vehicle pursuit ended as the suspect’s vehicle began traveling through a field and struck a fence. Two male subjects fled the scene, but they were eventually found by a K-9 officer who tracked them to a nearby location. 23-year-olds–Dayton Foster and Dylan Zane–were arrested; and Foster reportedly was found in possession of a loaded handgun, methamphetamine and a controlled medication.
Online court documents say Foster has been charged with two counts of a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance; a Class E Felony for Resisting Arrest; a Class D Felony for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm; and two drug-related misdemeanors with bond set at $25,000 cash or surety. Zane, who was identified as the driver, has been charged with a Class B Felony for Assault in the Second Degree and a Class E Felony for Resisting Arrest with bond set at $50,000 cash or surety.
An initial hearing for each subject is pending at Pettis County Circuit Court.
