Higginsville City Administrator Jeanette Dobson was honored for 40 years of service at the board of aldermen meeting on Monday, May 20.
Dobson said she started working for the city in 1979.
Dobson said she served as city clerk until January 23, 2017, when she was appointed city administrator to replace the retiring Lee Barker.
In other news from the meeting, Dobson said aldermen approved a bill authorizing the city to participate in the creation of MIRMA. She said Higginsville was one of the founding members that put the risk-management pool together for handling liability insurance. Several of the cities then started working toward a goal of creating a health-insurance pool.
Dobson said the pool will actually start January 1, 2020. However, Higginsville will not join the pool until July 2020.
