Classified staff members in the Marshall Public School District will be getting a bump in their salaries.
During its meeting on Tuesday, May 21, the Marshall School Board approved a recommendation for a two-percent raise across the board. In addition, the board approved an increase for prior experience; an increase for para professionals with 60-plus hours; an increase of 50 cents per hour for nurses; as well as the cost to add custodial and maintenance columns. The total cost to the district will be $120,441.
In other news, the board approved summer school to be held for Marshall High School students in grades nine through 12 from Monday, June 3, through Friday, June 28. Course offerings will include credit recovery; personal finance, health, physical education (for students who want to attain credit); and Acellus classes to assist in credit recovery.
And, after his squad traveled to Florida to play baseball this past season over Spring Break, Marshall baseball coach Paul Alberson asked for the board’s approval to schedule another trip during the spring of 2020; and the board gave its blessing.
