A Keytesville man is facing sex-related felony charges involving a juvenile.

According to a probable-cause statement, a 15-year-old female alleged to authorities that her father, 48-year-old James David Gilman, raped her on May 17, 2019. The girl detailed the actions of her father, including him forcing her to lie down on his bed and have sex, despite her telling him no several times.
Online court documents say Gilman has been charged with two counts of a Class A Felony for Child Molestation in the First Degree; and two counts of an Unclassified Felony for Rape or Attempted Rape in the First Degree. The judge has ordered no bond.
While in custody, Gilman was formally arraigned and entered a plea of not guilty on Tuesday, May 21. A counsel-status hearing is scheduled to be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, at Chariton County Circuit Court.
