While just about every town in the KMMO listening area was affected either by strong winds and/or heavy rainfall on Friday, May 24, residents in western Lafayette County had to take cover from the latest dangerous rounds of storms.
According to the National Weather Service, a tornado was spotted by Radar four miles west-southwest of Lake Lafayette at 8:23; and then one mile northeast of Lake Lafayette- near Odessa- at 8:27 p.m. However no real damage was reported as being caused by the twister.
Other funnel clouds and tornadoes were reported in Cass and Jackson Counties in western Missouri.
At 8:20 p.m., damage to a barn was reported two miles northwest of Pittsville in Johnson County.
There also were numerous reports of flash flooding; as well as a couple of water rescues and trees and power poles knocked down near Kansas City.
