The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) would like input from the public regarding proposed price increases for some nonresident hunting and fishing permits, as well as three changes to its free permits for landowners.
According to a news release, MDC is proposing adjusting acreage requirements for its free landowners permit from 5 to 20 acres. Also, MDC is proposing the implementation of a landowner registry to qualify for the landowner permits and a discount for hunting permits for nonresident landowners with 75 acres or more. The numerous proposed price changes for nonresident permits can be found at mdc.mo.gov. Some of the permit prices have not changed since 1999.
All of the proposed changes were given initial approval by the Missouri Conservation Commission at its meeting on May 23, 2019.
As part of the rule making process, MDC is asking for public comment on the changes during the month of July and early August at it’s website mdc.mo.gov.
The Commission will consider the public’s input and is scheduled to make a final decision to move forward, modify, or withdraw the changes during its meeting on August 23. If approved, the anticipated effective date of the changes would be February 29, 2020.
