Farm Service Agency Administrator Richard Fordyce and Saline County FSA Director Jared Singer toured the flooded areas in Saline County from a helicopter on Monday. They looked at the flooding near Grand Pass to Glasgow and then back to the west to Richmond.
Fordyce said they saw numerous locations where the water over-topped levees and soaked farmland. He said they saw a lot of devastation, but not yet on par with the Great Flood of 1993. However, he said this event is far from over. He said the further east they traveled, the worse the flooding seemed to get- with the most severe breaks being just west of Glasgow and to the south. Also, he said the breaks south of Carrollton and Noborne are bad, too.
Fordyce advises farmers/producers to stay informed about what’s going on and is available to them to help them out.

Singer gave more information on important dates to know. He said July 15 is the major crop reporting date.

Fordyce says you can get much more information on the FSA’s website, farmers.gov.
