A Sedalia resident has been charged with multiple felonies for allegedly illegally being in possession of a firearm and pointing it at another person on March 8, 2019.
According to a probable-cause statement, authorities were summoned to investigate the report of someone squatting in an apartment in the 600 block of West 4th Street. After arrival, the landlord reportedly requested the subject exit the apartment, but the person in the apartment reportedly told him to “back up.” The landlord told authorities, at that point, the individual in the apartment was pointing a handgun at him.
Officers backed out of the apartment building, and after negotiating with 40-year-old Damon M. Gordon for about 20 minutes, Gordon exited the apartment and was taken into custody.
Online court documents say Gordon, who is now 41, has been charged with a Class D Felony for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (a convicted felon in possession of a weapon); a Class E Felony for Unlawful Use of a Weapon- Exhibiting; an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action; and a misdemeanor for trespassing. Bond has been set at $30,000 cash or surety.
Gordon’s initial hearing is pending at Pettis County Circuit Court.
