A couple of Sweet Springs residents were present at the Board of Aldermen meeting on Monday, June 10, and expressed concerns about handicapped parking available at city park.
According to minutes from the meeting, a resident said on Sunday, June 9, there were 10 cars parked in the handicapped area between the ball diamonds, and three of the vehicles were not marked as handicapped. He requested something to be done.
The board said there are four spots designated for handicapped parking, and the resident said he would like to see more.
Police Chief Tammy Johnson said that in order for the police department to write tickets, all of the handicapped signs need to have fines posted on them.
Aldermen voted to order 12 fine signs.
City Clerk Michelle Fuehring said she will be making some phone calls to look into things further.

In other news, the board approved the hiring of Olivia Hagar and JoHanna Fields as lifeguards at the pool.
