A Boonville man has been charged with a couple of felonies for allegedly assaulting a law-enforcement officer on April 30 in Marshall.
According to a probable-cause statement, a police officer attempted to detain Brandon Michael Lee Gruetzmacher and was assaulted. The detainment was due to a report of Gruetzmacher breaking into another person’s residence.
The officer said Gruetzmacher refused to be handcuffed; attempted to run; had to be tackled to the ground; but assaulted the officer by punching the officer in the facial area and head numerous times on two different occasions, prompting the officer to use his pepper spray. The officer eventually was able to handcuff Gruetzmacher.
Online court documents say Gruetzmacher has been charged with a Class D Felony for Assault in the Third Degree- Special Victim; and a Class E Felony for Resisting Arrest, Detention or Stop by Fleeing. Bond has been set at $5,000 cash or surety.
Gruetzmacher’s initial hearing is pending at Saline County Circuit Court.
