Authorities are searching for a man who they believe robbed a financial institution in Lafayette County Thursday, June 20.
According to City Administrator, Nicki Wilson, at approximately 1:35 p.m., a suspect entered the Bank of Odessa, approached the teller, and indicated he was armed, but did not display a weapon. He allegedly demanded cash, which the teller provided.
At this time the amount of money the suspect got away with is unclear.
The suspect is described as being a black male, approximately 6 feet tall, average build, wearing a red shirt with stripes, light colored jeans and a grey stocking cap.
Wilson said the suspect left on foot before entering an unknown vehicle, and authorities believe the suspect is no longer in town.
Authorities were able to get a partial license plate from the getaway vehicle.
Since the incident involved a financial institution, the FBI is now in charge of the investigation.
