A felony charge has been filed against a 34-year-old Boonville man for allegedly assaulting a woman at a residence on Maple Street on June 19.
According to a probable-cause statement, the woman alleged to authorities that she tried to leave the residence, however James Lee Lewis followed her, grabbed her by her hair and dragged her back inside. The woman also said while she was lying on the ground, Lewis stuck his finger or thumb in the side of her cheek, hurting her jaw. Authorities say the woman had noticeable scratches on her chin and the front of her left shoulder, as well as red marks on her heels- which she said were caused by being dragged by Lewis. Authorities also say they found drug paraphernalia inside the residence.
According to online court documents, Lewis has been charged with a Class E Felony for Third-Degree Domestic Assault; and a drug-related misdemeanor. Bond has been fixed at $10,000 cash or surety.
Lewis appeared, in custody, yesterday (6/26) without counsel and entered a plea of not guilty. A counsel status hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, July 9, 2019.
