The search for the man wanted in connection with the robbery of a bank in Lafayette County on Thursday, June 20, has ended.
According to City Administrator Nici Wilson, at approximately 1:35 p.m., a suspect entered the Bank of Odessa, approached the teller, indicated he was armed, but did not display a weapon. He reportedly demanded cash, which the teller provided. At this time, the amount of money the suspect got away with has not been disclosed.
Authorities released the description of the suspect, who Wilson said left on foot before entering an unknown vehicle, and was believed to have left the town of Odessa. Authorities were able to get a partial license-plate number of the getaway vehicle.
Since the incident involved a financial institution, the FBI was put in charge of the investigation.
According to an updated release from Wilson, the alleged suspect was apprehended in the Kansas City metropolitan area at about 4 p.m. The identity of the suspect is not being released until formal charges are filed.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation assisted the Odessa Police Department during the investigation, which remains open and is ongoing.
