The Sweet Springs R-7 School Board approved several items during its meeting on Thursday, June 20.
According to minutes from the meeting, the board discussed bids received for the east parking-lot expansion project. Jon Dwiggins of Howe Construction presented the three bids received. A motion by board member Brian Vogelsmeier was seconded and approved to accept the bid from JT Holman Construction- including Alternate No. 1- reinforcing steel for the pavement; and Alternate No. 2- demolition and removal of the adjacent driveway and additional seeding; for a total of $271,350.
The board also voted to purchase an LS Model XR4145HC tractor from Diamond Equipment for $31,625.
In addition to closing out the 2018-19 budget- with the transfer from Fund 1 to Fund 4 including approximately $182,896 for the parking-lot expansion and improvements, concrete pads for bleachers and playground improvements; the board voted to approve the preliminary budget for the 2019-20 school year.
Also, the board voted to increase the price of lunches by 10 cents; keep reduced breakfast and lunch prices at 30 and 40 cents, respectively; and set the out-of-district tuition rate at $9,300 for the 2019-20 school year.
The board approved the district to continue with the auditing services of Randall C. Fiene, CPA, at $5,200 for fiscal-year 2019; and set the dates for the Senior Trip for March 19-23, prom for April 18 and high-school graduation for May 8, 2020.
