A 43-year-old Odessa man has been sentenced to spend more than a decade in state prison.
According to a post on Lafayette County Prosecuting Attorney Kristen Ellis Hilbrenner’s Facebook page, Brian Hahn was sentenced to 16 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections on June 3.
Charges were brought after deputies with the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office responded to the residence of Hahn with the Division of Family Services to conduct a welfare check. Deputies were granted consent to search Hahn’s bedroom. In his dresser, several pill bottles were located, along with controlled substances and a set of digital scales. When deputies asked Hahn about the pills that were located, Hahn said he had them because he was a drug user so he either wanted to use them or sell them.
Hahn was found guilty by a Lafayette County jury on April 17 of two felonies: Possession of a Controlled Substance – Oxycodone; and Possession of a Controlled Substance – Acetominophen/Hydrocodone. Hahn also was found guilty of a misdemeanor for Possession of a Controlled Substance – marijuana.
The jury reached its verdict in only 35 minutes, following a daylong trial.
The Court agreed with the prosecutor and sentenced Hahn to eight years on each felony charge, with each sentence to run consecutively, plus 30 days concurrent on the misdemeanor marijuana charge. Hahn was remanded to the custody of the sheriff to be delivered to the Department of Corrections.
