A murder/suicide has been reported in an area county.
According to a release from the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 9:45 a.m. on Monday, June 24, deputies were dispatched to the 3800 Block of Linn Road in rural Bates City for a death investigation.
Arriving deputies located the body of 52-year-old Robin Hicklin on the main level of the residence. Robin appeared to be the victim of an assault. While clearing the residence, deputies located another body in the basement. This body was identified as 49-year-old John Hicklin, whose death was determined to be a suicide.
The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office and Lafayette County Coroner Doctor Ram Chandra, through a thorough investigation, concluded the deaths were a result of a murder/suicide. Robin’s body was transported to the Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office for Autopsy. John’s body was released to the family.
John and Robin were married and were residing in the same home.
