A Mount Leonard man has been charged with felonies for allegedly assaulting a woman and resisting arrest on Friday, June 28.
According to a probable-cause statement, the woman says Larry Ray Hostetter Jr. kicked in the door to the residence and started hitting her with his fist. She also says Hostetter threw her down on the bed and threw a television on top of her. She said Hostetter would not let her leave, so she called 9-1-1. After the law-enforcement officer arrived, he said Hostetter resisted, clinching his fist like he was going to hit the officer. The deputy attempted to handcuff Hostetter, and Hostetter pulled away, and the deputy had to take him to the ground. While on the ground, Hostetter reportedly continued to resist, including pushing himself off the ground and hitting the deputy’s head with his head. Eventually, the deputy was able to handcuff Hostetter. The deputy suffered a twisted left ankle during the incident. The woman was transported to Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall for treatment of noticeable injuries.
Online court documents say Hostetter has been charged with a Class D Felony for Domestic Assault in the Second Degree; and a Class E Felony for Resisting Arrest. Bond has been fixed at $15,000 cash only.
Hostetter was arraigned on Friday, June 28. His counsel-status and bond-conditions hearing is scheduled to be held at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3, at Saline County Circuit Court.
