The Slater City Council selected one three bids received from contractors to tear down some houses within the city during its meeting on Tuesday, July 16.
City Administrator Gene Griffith explains.

Griffith also said a big announcement was made regarding the Fall Festival, which runs September 19-21.

Griffith said the parade is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 21.
In other news, the council was updated on a couple of upcoming events, including the Splish, Splash Bash, which is scheduled to be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 19, at the city pool; and the Antique Tractor Pull- a free event- also is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 3, at the airport pulling track.
